LEGENDS AND HISTORY OF KOLAR

Bangara thirupati as it is called today was prehistorically known as ‘Sheshachala’. In the beginning of kaliuga the legend goes, Brigu Maharishi, having offended the trinities Bhrama Vishnu and Maheshwara, was cursed by them , and he did his penance here. After the atonement was over, Lord Vishu appeared as Lord Venkateshwara and released him from the curse.

In the small temple on top of the hillock, stands the idol of lord Venkateshwara , and can be seen only through the six hole window.
